Motorcyclist Dies In Florida Wreck With Semi
PEMBROKE PINES, FL (TruckingNewsNow.com) (Source: Broward Sheriff’s Office) — The Broward Sheriff’s Office is investigating a two-vehicle crash that killed a Pembroke Pines man.
At 10:24 a.m. April 28, a tractor-trailer was headed north in the left lane of U.S. Highway 27 when a Suzuki motorcycle headed in the same direction and same lane started to close in on the truck. The driver of the 2019 International semitrailer moved to the right lane when it was rear-ended by the 2016 Suzuki GSX-R that had also shifted to the right lane.
BSO deputies from Weston and emergency personnel responded to the crash site. The motorcyclist, Omar Andrade, 43, was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to detectives with BSO’s Traffic Homicide Investigation Unit, just prior to the crash the truck driver was traveling at or near the posted speed limit of 65 mph and Andrade was displaying excessive speed. Detectives’ preliminary investigation indicates excessive speed by the motorcyclist is the primary contributing factor to the crash.
Their investigation continues.
