Werner Trucking Honored By EPA

OMAHA, NE (TruckingNewsNow.com) (Source: Werner) Werner Trucking, a premier transportation and logistics company, is honored to be named a 2018 SmartWay High Performer by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for its efforts to produce more efficient and sustainable supply chain transportation solutions.

“Receiving this honor is the ultimate validation that our sustainability initiatives are making a difference in protecting our environment,” said President and Chief Executive Officer Derek Leathers. “It is our commitment to continue demonstrating leadership in freight supply chain energy and environmental performance.”

SmartWay Partners submit efficiency and air quality performance data to the EPA annually, and the EPA aggregates and divides the data into five ranked performance ranges. Werner was recognized in the truck carrier fleets all metrics, truck carrier fleets carbon metric and dray carrier fleets PM and NOx metrics categories.

Since 2007, Werner has reduced its carbon footprint by more than 2.6 million tons and saved more than 237 million gallons of fuel. The complete list of 2018 SmartWay High Performer awardees is available on the EPA’s website.
