Maryland State Police Investigate Fatal Box Truck Crash
SOMERSET COUNTY, MD (TruckingNewsNow.com) (Source: Maryland State Police) — The investigation continues into a fatal crash involving a box truck in Somerset County, Maryland. The Monday crash occurred at N/B Rt. 13 and Peach Orchard Rd, Somerset County, MD.
Upon Troopers arrival they located a single vehicle, box-truck that drove off the roadway and struck several trees. The box-truck was fully engulfed in fire. Pocomoke City Fire Department responded to assist with the fire. The driver of the box-truck was trapped inside the cab and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver will be transported to the Medical Examiner’s office for autopsy. The identity of the driver is not being released at this time. Due to several large trees being uprooted, north and southbound lanes of Rt. 13 had to be closed an extended time for tree removal.
Maryland State Police Crash Team and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement personnel responded to the scene to assist with the investigation. The crash investigation is ongoing.
